Meet Carl

I’m proudly running for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in 2024.

Since 2011, I have served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney at the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office. I prosecute homicide and sexual assault cases in the Major Trial Unit.

To date, I have handled more than 2,500 adult felony cases and tried nearly 80 cases to verdict.

I have the relevant experience, trial experience, and a thorough understanding of how our system operates to help lead our Court forward.

I am committed to helping the court operate more efficiently, enhance our commitment to rehabilitation of offenders, increase access to justice, and reduce costs.

As a prosecutor, I enjoy the opportunity to speak with people at monthly community meetings about recently resolved cases, programs for reducing recidivism, and answering questions. Too often, the only time a member of the public interacts with a prosecutor is when they are either a victim of a crime, witness to a crime, or accused of a crime. As a public servant, I believe it is important to be present, and accessible in the communities we serve.

I am an active community leader, and a proud resident of Cleveland. I recently finished up my third year as president of the Cleveland Ward 17 Democratic Club. I am a past member of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Central Committee, and have served on the Executive Committee, a position from which I resigned to run for Judge.

At St. Edward High School, I serve on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Legal Eagles Executive Board, and I serve as legal advisor to the mock trial program.

Each morning before school I ask my son and daughter what the two rules are, to which they reply: “Be nice to people, and work hard.” These are the values I hold most dear, and the philosophy I apply to my career as a prosecutor.

The people of Cuyahoga County can expect no less of me as a judge.
